Leica X1

06th January 2012
"The similarities between the Leica X1 and the classics of the M system go deeper than merely their stylish exteriors. In terms of image quality in particular, the X1 fears no comparison with its larger cousin. Remarkably compact and easy to use, the X1 gives photographers the flexibility to capture moments and impressions exactly as they are - authentic and unrehearsed. That's what makes the Leica X1 the perfect everyday companion for demanding photographers."

So runs the Leica blurb. I have been so impressed with the quality of the images from the M9 that I had little hesitation in buying the X1, apart from actually parting with the money. I knew the quality would be there in the DNG files and the image sharpness I had already witnessed as a member of a Leica print portfolio. My intention for 2012 is to increase the amount of stock photography I do and to this end a light and compact camera which produces flawless quality files which, because the X1 does not have interchangeable lenses, should never need spotting seems a very useful tool in the armoury which will increase productivity considerably.
